A learning place is a venue whose history or way of working teaches a team something.

A Berlin market hall handed back to its neighbourhood, an Abruzzo village brought back to life house by house, a Cornish workshop where bowls have been thrown since 1920: a team sleeps there, meets there, and everyone leaves with a true story to tell.

What makes a learning place

A verified story

The place repairs something: a building, a village, soils, a craft, local jobs. Every page gives at least one fact with a figure and its source.

Beauty first

An architect’s gesture, a material, a light, a landscape. A learning place is seen before it is told.

A door open to groups

Rooms, a meeting room, a long table or a workshop for ten to forty people, and a train to get there.

Who chooses them

The in:Expeditions editors choose every place, check every fact against its sources and write its page, in English, French and the local language. A place cannot buy its way into the selection. Learning place is an editorial category: it says what a place teaches a team.
