In Dessau, Walter Gropius built a block of 28 studios next to the Bauhaus workshops in 1925 and 1926, where students and young masters lived and worked. Today you can sleep there, in rooms that remain true to the spirit of the school.

Tubular steel furniture, a large desk, a washbasin: the rooms are plain, with no television or minibar. Showers, toilets and a kitchenette are shared on each floor, as in the students’ day, and one room is reconstructed as it was. The Bauhaus has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996.
For a design, architecture or innovation team, it is a chance to work in the place that invented a method. The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation offers 23 single or double rooms. Good to know: no lift, and a winter closure from 6 December 2026 to 21 February 2027.
