Abbaye de Royaumont
Less than an hour from Paris, the abbey founded by Saint Louis in 1228 became France’s first cultural foundation in 1964. Royaumont lives to the rhythm of resident musicians and dancers, and rents its rooms and meeting spaces to teams on retreat.

Henry Goüin and Isabel Lang turned the Cistercian abbey into a house for artists: creation and training residencies, concerts, music and dance. The 53 rooms look onto the cloister or the park, and three are adapted for people with reduced mobility. Around ten rooms host meetings, up to 300 people under the timber roof.

Three gardens extend the cloister: the medieval-inspired garden of nine squares, the cloister garden and the kitchen garden. Royaumont hosts several hundred corporate events a year alongside the artists’ season. It is reached by the H line from Paris-Nord, with a shuttle from Luzarches station.
