Paris, London, Amsterdam: from the wasteland to the port

Where do you put a farm when the city has no land left?

In the 18th arrondissement, Cultivate farms the rooftops. In Rotterdam, a dairy farm has floated in the port since 2019. Between the two lies London, where the Stock Exchange opened a market for green and social bonds that same year, and where Sustainable Ventures hosts some 500 climate start-ups. The group travels by Eurostar: 2 h 17 from Paris to London, just under four hours from London to Amsterdam. Visits are confirmed with each place when the quote is drawn up.

Three immersions for a Paris, London and Amsterdam learning expedition

IMMERSION 1

Paris, days 1 to 3: the farm on the roof

In the 18th arrondissement, Plantation farms the roof of the Chapelle International logistics hub, across about 7,000 m². In the old Censier campus of Sorbonne Nouvelle University, awaiting renovation, Plateau Urbain has run the Césure third place since 2022, where some 200 organisations and 2,000 students share 25,000 m².

IMMERSION 2

London, days 4 to 6: the City and the climate

In 2010 the first social impact bond was launched in Peterborough; in October 2019 the London Stock Exchange opened a market for green, social and sustainable bonds. Opposite Parliament, at County Hall, Sustainable Ventures supports a network of more than 1,000 climate and clean-tech start-ups.

IMMERSION 3

Rotterdam and Amsterdam, days 7 to 10: the farm on the water

In the port of Rotterdam, Floating Farm has been moored since 2019. Put up for sale in 2026, it is still open; its mooring permit expires in early 2028. The port, Europe’s largest, aims for net zero by 2050. In Amsterdam, Fairphone designs a phone whose owner can replace up to twelve parts, the battery among them.
