### What happens to the metal offcuts of a watch?

In the Swiss Jura, the watch subcontractor Panatere collects metal offcuts from neighbouring workshops and recasts them as raw material. In Zurich, Freitag has cut its bags from used truck tarpaulins since 1993. In Winterthur, an industrial hall gained three storeys built from reused parts. In Milan, La Scala’s workshops make the opera’s sets and costumes themselves. Between Zurich and Milan, the train crosses the Gotthard. Visits are confirmed with each place when the quote is drawn up.

### Three immersions for a Geneva, Zurich and Milan learning expedition

IMMERSION 1

#### Geneva and the Jura, days 1 to 3: the metal offcuts

Panatere, a watch subcontractor in the Swiss Jura, collects the region’s metal offcuts and turns them back into high-grade raw material. In Geneva, HEAD trains designers and artists across some twenty programmes.

IMMERSION 2

#### Zurich, days 4 and 5: the bag cut from a tarpaulin

At Nœrd, its Oerlikon headquarters, Freitag washes and cuts the tarpaulins and welcomes groups of 10 to 25 people. On the former Sulzer site in Winterthur, Hall 118 gained three storeys of reused parts in 2021, with about 60% fewer emissions than a new building.

IMMERSION 3

#### Milan and Turin, days 6 to 8: the workshops

At Brioni, tailors still sew the house’s suits by hand. Behind La Scala’s curtain, carpenters, sculptors and tailors make the sets and costumes. In Turin, Stellantis is bringing production steps back to Europe.
